Far exceeding all expectations, their spirited showing performed in front of the iconic City Hall building, one of our historic landmarks in Singapore, awed over 150,000 spectators - the greatest turnout ever in the parade's 37-year history - who thronged the City Hall to Raffles Avenue area to catch this spectacular two-day grand street and floats parade on the 30 th and 31 st of January!

Amongst the audience were even Singapore’s top government leaders including our President S R Nathan, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and many other ministers, demonstrating the significance of this annual festive event themed ‘Chingay Wonderland’ this year – staged as part of our local Chinese New Year festivities.

Magical is the perfect word to describe the MAGICBOX@Chingay contingent’s sensational performance from start to finish, which also marked the Chingay Parade’s first-ever magic highlight showcased in their annual performance line-up.

From their impressive contingent image, to their flawless synchronised magic routines, to the climatic magic illusions by the ‘King and Princess of Magic World’, Master Illusionists Lawrence and Priscilla themselves, the MAGICBOX@Chingay contingent definitely brought a fiery grand closure to the parade:

The 450-strong performers, who resembled the all-time favourite ‘Star Trek’ movie figures in their glittery, lit-up gear, captivated all eyes with their mystifying magic and moves around the spectacular MAGICBOX float, the longest float at the parade.

And of course, the MAGICBOX float with its magnificent and futuristic presence lent all the magic aura to the contingent’s performance, as it assisted Lawrence and Priscilla in making their entrance and performing their magic illusions on it, which further enthralled the spectators. It is also currently in the running for the most favourite parade float out of the 13 colourful floats showcased - and the voting results will be out soon!

MAGICBOX stars, Lawrence and Priscilla, also stole the parade show with their astounding magic illusions. Drawing the audience into the enchanting world of magic, the ‘King and Princess of Magic World’ lost no time in delighting them with one magic illusion after another.

Priscilla, with her amazing ‘The Torch Box’ illusion, drew many a gasp from the ground, of her ‘pierced’ fate, and thunderous claps of her magical escape thereafter from all the relieved audience. And finally, Lawrence brought on the climatic magic highlight of the evening, his ‘Burnt Alive At Chingay 2009’ death-defying escape feat, which kept the audience at the edge of their seats throughout; they watched before their very eyes, Lawrence being shackled up, set on fire, and later magically re-appeared unharmed from atop the City Hall building, and making a grand descent down, bringing the parade to an all-high close.

Truly a highlight amongst the highlights, the MAGICBOX@Chingay finale performance injected life, ‘danger’ and magic to this year’s parade, and most of all, many photographic moments for all to remember it by – the most talked-about performance of the evening.

For this resounding MAGICBOX@Chingay success, we thank one and all who have offered their utmost support in making this event possible and spectacular!
