A Story Told with Illusions by the
Magic of Lawrence and Priscilla

A GATEWAY ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTION

This July, Singapore’s beloved homegrown illusionists, Lawrence and Priscilla Khong are back to ignite our shores with a brand new show – MAGICBOX at the iconic Esplanade Theatre . The highly anticipated production combines the world’s most incredible magic expertise with a heart-warming tale of love, family and values in one spectacular show. Be dazzled by locally acclaimed talents, enchanting costumes, magnificent sets and skilfully composed music.

A father’s love and hope for his dearest daughter, their passion for the craft of magic and the sincere belief that dreams can come true streamlines the exciting plot of MAGICBOX. Dazzled by the alluring glamour, lights, and opportunities of the big city, Priscilla is the coming-of-age daughter eager to spread her wings and fly away. Hurt by her actions yet standing firm in his traditions and ideologies of magic, Lawrence watches with a broken heart as she leaves him. Thankfully he has a dutiful son, Charlie, who has been quietly living in Priscilla’s shadow but always ready to help and support his father. Will Priscilla learn the error of her ways and return home to the people who truly love her?

Not since the 1980’s has the world seen these two diverse genres, magic and theatre, married in a magnificent, unforgettable performance. Featuring an international team of stellar magic consultants like Jim Steinmeyer, who has been credited with "defining illusions in contemporary magic" for David Copperfield and The Pendragons, along with the legendary guru of magic and consultant on Criss Angel's MindFreak television series, John Thompson, these masters will devise acts unique to MAGICBOX . To enhance the local flavour and theatrics of this production, we have homegrown director Loretta Chen, lighting maestro Mac Chan along with composer Iskandar Ismail who has led the music direction of Singapore’s National Day Celebrations 14 times. Laden with many brand-new magical illusions in a dynamic display of artistry and enthusiasm, the powerful one-of-a-kind MAGICBOX promises to enchant, enthral and entertain from start to finish.

Elevating magic to new heights, this ancient art is redefined with the addition of the enchantment of theatre. You will be amazed when Lawrence weaves magic with his Dove Manipulation act which is crafted by John Thompson and Haruo Shimada, both leading authorities on Dove Magic in the world of illusions. Observe as Lawrence performs his signature act with impossible variations of levitation as Priscilla floats more than fifteen feet above the ground. Watch with heart-wrenching fear as Lawrence cheats death in his adrenalin pumping, nerve wrecking act - Spikes of Doom.

And for the first time ever, Priscilla, under the tutelage of famous magicians Haruo and Luna Shimada, will perform the pair’s renowned Parasol Act. With a deft twist of her hands, she will magically produce parasols from thin air, weaving it into a magical dance of colourful images and vivid designs.

Combining all the best elements of show business into one single production, the Khongs will prove to you that MAGICBOX is much more than a magic show. So come join Lawrence and Priscilla in an intimate evening of grand fantasies and you will walk out of the theatre with an entirely different perspective of magic artistry.
